“INTER RAO UES Group” started the construction of a new 420 MW steam-gas power generation unit at Verkhnetagilskaya TPP,”-announced the energy holding.

The total budget of investments is 20 milliard rubles.

The new power generation unit must be operational by December 2014.

LLC « INTER RAO Engineering», a fully owned subsidiary of JSC INTER RAO UES, will oversee the new CCGT unit construction project.

The new power generation unit will give an opportunity to decommission the outdated coal-fired equipment of Verkhnetagilskaya TPP units one through three without reducing electricity generation or combined installed capacity. At the same time, operational and financial performance of the power plant will improve significantly up to 68MW.After construction of gas-steam unit-420 combined electric capacity of Verkhnetagilskaya TPP will increase to 1565MW.

The start of construction work on the new advanced steam-gas power generation unit at Verkhnetagilskaya TPP is an important step in the implementation of an essential component of overall development strategy, that is making power generation assets of INTER RAO UES Group more reliable, safe and operationally efficient.
