Successful testing of electric pumping units for icebreakers Siberia and Ural

On the test stand of JSC «HMS Livgidromash» has successfully conducted acceptance inspection and testing of the vertical electric pumping units VCMA5000-14, designed for cooling of nuclear power plant of serial universal nuclear icebreakers (UNI) of the project 22220. Traditionally, the inspection Commission includes authorized employees of JSC «Zavod «Kirov-Energomash» and FSUE «Atomflot».

At the same time, acceptance tests of PEMA 250-80 electric pump units supplied for UNI 22220 «URAL» were successfully completed. All equipment is packed and ready for shipment to JSC «Baltiyskiy zavod».

«Ural» is the third icebreaker of the project 22220, in the equipment of which «EnergoFront» company takes part. This is a difficult project because all installed units on the icebreakers meet strict requirements», - comments the task Project Manager of LLC «EnergoFront» Ilya Zagorodniy. - «I would like to note that for 2 years of implementation of this grandiose project «EnergoFront» has established itself as a reliable engineering partner, consistently demonstrating a high level of technical competence».

In 2019, JSC «Baltiyskiy Zavod» plans to sign contracts for the supply of equipment for the remaining two icebreakers of the project 22220.

The goal of project 22220 is to ensure Russia's leadership in the Arctic. The nuclear icebreakers under construction will provide the wiring of ships carrying hydrocarbon raw materials from the fields of the Yamal and Gydan peninsulas, the shelf of the Kara Sea to the markets of the Asia-Pacific region. New ships will be able to break through ice up to 3 meters thick and conduct caravans of ships in the Arctic.
