The President of Kazakhstan Mr. Nursultan Nazarbaev claimed to accelerate the construction of Balkhash TPP

Start-up of Balkhash TPP will decrease lack of energy in the south of the country. The agreement of the construction was made in 2010 during the negotiations of the President of Kazakhstan and South Korea. In 2011 the inter-government agreement about separation of concerns in development, financing, design, construction, operation, and technical service of Balkhash TPP was signed. In turn the Chairman of the Board of Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” Mr.Umirzak Shukeev remembered that to provide it the equity capital in the amount of 120 million USD was made. “This capital is now being spent on design of DED and the construction of support environment. But more money, 2 billion, will be obtained as soon as we fix the tax; we were involved into the discussions about the choice of fuel thus we wasted time, but till November we are promised these issues to be tackled,”-announced Mr.Shukeev.

Completion date of construction is 2018, after the TPP will have to reach the design output of 1320 MW and it will produce 9,209 bil. kW/h a year. “This TPP must be under the government control,”-said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Nazarbaev.
